As we pass what is known unfortunately as Blue Monday I thought it was maybe helpful to introduce you to saffron.
Saffron (Crocus Sativus) has a long history, over 3000 years of use for improving mood and mental health. A traditional Chinese medicine text from the Mongol dynasty for example states that “long-term ingestion causes a person’s heart to be happy”.
The mood enhancing effects of saffron may be due to the actions it has on improving the action of our feel-good neurotransmitter serotonin, enhancement of memory and cognitive function and antioxidant effects which can also protect the brain against the damages of stress. It has been found in studies to be as comparable to SSRI antidepressant medication. Saffron may assist or support healthy sleep and mood balance.
We have two brilliant products in store from Natroceutics and Viridian. You can find out about ‘the sunshine herb’ below. Please pop in and see us to discuss how Saffron may help you.
Another tool I have found to be invaluable is breathwork, which I practise with Kerry who is a Breathwork Coach, Yoga Teacher and Sound Therapist. Kerry is offering FREE private 20 minute taster sessions throughout January. You can contact Kerry using the details below to book your free session.
